Oyster Recipe: Baked Oysters
I love shellfish so it goes without saying that I love oysters. Oysters are plentiful and affordable in the United States. We’re blessed with fresh, live, big, fat, and succulent oysters all year long from the east coast and west coast. I would be sharing more oyster recipes if I don’t have to shuck them. To me, shucking oyster is…

Grilled Shrimp with Green Papaya and Mango Salad
When a Michelin-trained private chef writes about food, you know it’s gotta be good and that’s exactly what Zen Chef at Zen Can Cook (previously known as Chefs Gone Wild) delivers–a food blog choked full of scrumptious dishes that rival the finest and best restaurants around. Zen is always wacky, hilarious, and I admire his cooking and wicked writing style (read…

Fried Oysters with Panko (Kaki Furai/Kaki Fry)
Everyone loves panko, or Japanese bread crumb that gives fried foods an airy, light, and super crispy coating, for example: tonkatsu (Japanese fried pork cutlet). I am no exception. In fact, every time I eat out at a Japanese restaurant or izakaya, I would always order a dish of fried appetizer and my favorite is deep-fried oysters or panko-crusted oysters….

Yakitori (Japanese Grilled Skewered Chicken)
One of my favorite things to do on the weekends is having dinner with good friends at a Japanese izakaya or yakitori restaurant. The casual gastro-pub settings and the scrumptious fares offered at these establishments have had me hooked since my first trip to Tokyo many years ago. My favorite items at izakaya are none other than the mouthwatering, hot-off-the-grill…

I lurrvee them raw, cold and sprinkled with lemon juice. Slurppp..! However, the grilled ones looks really good!
Ooh…I love them raw, but it’s always a leap of faith. If they aren’t right up there with the best-oysters-you-ever-head, it’s just a waste of time and all your courage! I think the best oysters I ever had were actually at a “jaulau” (dim sum restaurant) in Vancouver, Canada that specialized in new-age dim sum. (I don’t know about you, but I’ve never seen raw oysters on any other dim sum menu cards!)
I love oysters both cooked and raw. There’s nothing like a raw oyster w/ some lemon drizzled on it or hot sauce. Fried oysters in a poboy sandwich are also amazing.
Beautiful pics! Thanks for sharing.
I am a great fan of raw oysters! Best to have them with shallot & vinegar sauce (vinaigre à l'échalotte).
The daunting side of eating raw is if they are not fresh, then, the probability to be sick is high. :(
I prefer them raw with Tabasco and a squeeze of lemon, but I would certainly not turn down oysters that were well cooked either.
We love them raw or cooked regardless! If I have to choose, here in Oz raw and briney straight from the oys-farms would be fav! Or at home with a squeeze of fresh lemon and dash of Tabasco. Cooked, I can’t go past Singapore-style oyster omelette (oh-chien??). Maybe you can post a recipe for it here sometime!
Succulent grilled oysters with a splash of lemon or sprinkle of cumin are my favorites, but in the “R” months raw is great too.
Cooked, please! Give me a good old New Orleans po’boy and I’m very happy.
I have only ever tried Oysters raw with Tabasco and lemon- but these look absolutely amazing!
slurppppppp! yummy…
I lurve oysters:
Raw, straight from Hog Island Oysters at the San Francisco Ferry Building. Oh yeah.
Grilled, with some soy-chili-lime dressing.
Baked, with soy-ginger-scallions.
Fried, as in o-chien.
I love my oysters raw but I’ll try your grilled oysters any day!
Oysters garlic and Chili man three of my favorite things! Great photography by the way. Be careful labeling items “Food Porn” can get you in trouble with the search engine filters. Great site Rock on!
iv never heard of grilled oysters but will not say no to them!
oh god that looks amazing. i quite like my oysters cooked because i’m not a big hardcore oyster fan.but i once had them pizza style on an oyster farm in New Zealand — tomato sauce and mozzarella on top — it was DEEEE-lish. :)
I like my oysters raw or cooked. But for the cooked version like in oyster omelette, the oysters have to be cooked just nice and not too dry.
food porn indeed..hope no 1 sees im surfing all these oysters pics!
I can eat a lot more if it’s cooked. Raw ones…maybe just 1-2. So you say leh? “P
Pacific ones (Vancouver) and raw with a dash of lemon!
same as tigerfish, I can only eat 1-2 raw ones, but I can wolf down many cooked ones :D~~ Your photo is so drool-worthy … food porn it is!
I like my oysters raw with a dash of sweet and sour chili sauce. YUMMM…
Great Photos!
