How to Create and Install a Favicon?

FaviconIf you are a regular reader of Rasa Malaysia, you should notice by now that there is a little RM icon (favicon) on Rasa Malaysia’s bookmark. A few readers asked me about it and I thought I would write a quick post to teach you how to create one.

I think every website should have a favicon. Not only is it cute, it also gives your site that unique online identity and custom personalization of your domain. Favicon is very easy to make and takes no more than 20-30 minutes of your time.

Below please find my step-by-step instructions:

  1. Create a 16×16 icon of your choice (.jpg format) and save it to your desktop.
  2. Go to Flavicon Coverter and convert it to .ico format.
  3. Follow the instructions on the site and you’re set.

Good luck creating and installing your favicon!

yeah thanks, BY.

my blog has a flavicon (now only i know the name!) of a speech bubble in green which kind of fit the name of my blog, so i thought it was my host who did it for me but when i asked him he said no, it came with the theme. so i asked him how to custom-made one and he was not sure how. now thanks to you, i know.

Hey Lucia - yes, now you can customize it. It’s actually called Favicon (meaning favorite icon). The site is called Flavicon (I was confused too!).

Tonixe - Favicon is that little icon in front of my URL on the browser address field…or if you bookmark my site, you will see it. You should make one!

Claude - I think Satay will be a good start…why don’t you try my recipe? It’s very easy to make and tastes different from Thai Satay. click here for the recipe.

Dr. Ve Thru - I go back on Feb 16, just in time for the Chinese New Year on Feb 18. :)

yeah after i kaypo saying you dropped the l, then i suddenly realised it is FAVICON after all, only that the site name is FLAVICON.

btw, my blog started to go crazy sometime after i change the favicon - but i don’t think it is the favicon’s fault. must be something i do with the sidebar. now my blog all posts are pushed down!
