The decor was gorgeous, I couldn't stop gushing. My favourite part was definitely falling asleep with the sound of waves crashing - it was so loud and yet so peaceful. It was so magical and beautiful! Because they didn't take pre-wedding shots, they opted to take photos around the vicinity of the hotel and can I tell you, those were probably the most beautiful wedding pictures I've ever seen. My wife and I have stayed there on a dozen occasions both before its recent renovations and afterwards. Indeed my wife remembers visiting Penang as a young woman in 1975 and seeing the Lone Pine as virtually the only hotel accommodation on thee beach. As a poor student she could not afford to stay there of course! Our last visit was in August 2012 and we enjoyed our 12 days greatly. I was interested that you did not mention the jovial and welcoming manager Mr Khoo. A lovely man who really works to make your stay memorable. We met years ago when he was marketing manager for the Lone Pines "big sister" the E&O in Georgetown. Now there is a place worthy of your attention in the future. Matsu is indeed a fine Japanese restaurant although I was less enthused by the Bungelow which struck me as a little overpriced and lacking in authenticity. Anyway thanks for the memories. we return to Penang in June 2013 for an 11 week stay this time. In an apartment at Batu Ferringhi.
