Yes, I used the regular ones also from American supermarkets. Just wait for them to be almost rotten and the taste gets sweeter.

Bee, what type of banana do you use for the banana cake here? Back home we always use pisang rajah but they are not available here! :(
BTW, I was craving for pisang goreng but again no pisang rajah available. I tried using the normal banana we get at the store and it didn’t turn out that great! ~ rather bland!

When combining the mashed bananas, eggs, melted butter and vanilla, does that mean just put the ingredients together not necessarily mixing them very well or should I mix the wet ingredients very well before folding the mixture to the dry ingredients?

I love your website. I’ve only started cooking early this year after moving away from home so I’m still struggling to master most basics. I tried your banana bread recipe today and found that it was too dry for my liking. Would you be able to tell me where I went wrong? I left the mix in the oven for exactly 60 minutes. I just baked it and i love it! I love bananas cooked in anyway! one of my fave is kolak pisang (bananas cooked in coconut milk, palm sugar and pandan leaves)

I have a similar receipe like yours, instead of vanilla essence I add banana essence and I used 3 eggs. I do like the way you put the banana slices ontop. It looks great!!

Hi Lilacz, I am not sure. Mine worked out quite OK but they did get cracked a bit. I am sorry but not much help here.
