  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, peeled and sliced (10 g )
  • 1 cup mini carrots (150 g)
  • 1/2 pound bottom eye roast or bottom round roast, diced into 1" cubes (230 g)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (30 mL)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (30 mL)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (5 mL)
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine (15 mL)
  • 1 cup water (240 mL)
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions


  1. In a crock pot, add all the ingredients in the listed order for the exception of the green onions.

  2. Turn the crock pot on low and allow the stew to cook for 8 hours. Halfway through the cook time, stir the ingredients to evenly season the ingredients.

  3. Serve over white rice and top with green onions, if using.

Recipe Notes

For a quicker cook time, increase the crock pot temperature to high and cook for 4 hours.
