Ingredients

  • 1 lb (500g) salmon fillet, cut into two equal-sized pieces
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 dashe round black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oil for pan-searing
  • Orange slices for garnishing
  • Sesame seeds for garnishing
  • Orange Teriyaki Sauce:
  • 1/3 cup Japanese cooking sake or Chinese rice wine
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch

Instructions

  • Season the salmon with some salt and black pepper.
  • Mix all the ingredients for the Orange Teriyaki Sauce in a saucepan. Heat on low heat until the sauce is thickened and slightly reduced. Set aside.
  • Heat up a skillet with the cooking oil on medium to high heat. Pan sear the salmon until cooked through, about 4-5 minutes for each piece, depending on the thickness of the salmon.
  • To serve, drizzle the Orange Teriyaki Sauce on the salmon. Topped with some sesame seeds and serve with orange slices and steamed rice.
