Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 4 large prawns
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Add mayonnaise and egg yolk to a small bowl, stir well, and set aside.
  • Rinse four large prawns and pat them dry with paper towels. Using a sharp knife, make a shallow cut down the middle of the back of each prawn to create a pocket. Clean and devein the prawns. Be careful not to cut all the way through. Then, transfer them directly to a baking pan lined with parchment paper.
  • Generously coat each prawn with the mayonnaise mixture and stuffed with shredded cheese, gently pressing them to fill the space evenly.
  • Bake the prawn in a preheated oven (or an outside griller) for 8 to 10 minutes or until the prawns turn pink and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve immediately with freshly chopped parsley on top.

Notes

Tips:
  1. Pick fresh large prawns for the best taste. Fresh prawns will have a sweet and succulent flavor, enhancing the overall taste of your grilled cheese prawns.
  2. Don't Overcook the Prawns. Prawns cook quickly, and overcooking can result in a rubbery texture. Keep a close eye on them while baking, and remove them from the oven as soon as they turn pink and opaque. This will ensure they remain juicy and tender.
  3. Select a cheese that melts well and complements the prawns. Cheddar, mozzarella, Gouda, or a blend of cheeses are excellent choices. Avoid using cheeses that are too pungent or overpowering, as they may mask the delicate flavors of the prawns.
