Vietnamese Dipping Sauce

This 5-minute Vietnamese dipping sauce (nuoc cham) recipe uses a simple ratio of fish sauce, warm water, sugar, fresh lime, and sliced Thai chili. It is an easy, make-ahead dipping sauce that comes together quickly for spring rolls, noodle bowls, and grilled meats.

Ingredients

  • tablespoons fish sauce
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon Thai red chili cut into slices or regular red chili, cut and pounded (optional)

Instructions

  • Add the fish sauce, water, sugar, and lime juice to a bowl.
  • Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved. Taste and adjust to your liking.
  • Add the pounded Thai red chili and mix well.
  • Serve with your favorite dishes.
