Servings: 9 slices
- 3 cups self-raising flour
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 5 tablespoons butter melted, divided
- 1 1/2 cups beer
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9" x 5" (23cm x 12cm) loaf pan. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, 4 tablespoons of melted butter, and beer, stirring until smooth—don’t worry if there are some small lumps.
Spoon the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top, and drizzle with the remaining 1 tablespoon of melted butter. Bake the bread for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs clinging to it.
Remove the bread from the oven and let it sit for 5 minutes before turning it out onto a cooling rack. Wait until the bread cools completely before slicing. Serve it with your favorite preserves or jam.
