- 1 1/2 cups beer
Instructions

I made this Beer Bread earlier in the week.. It turned out beautiful. My loaf centers were high domed compared to your pictures, probably because I’m at high altitude of 7,000 feet. My batter was quite stiff, most likely the altitude again. Also, I didn’t have self-raising flour, so I made my own using 1 cup unbleached AP flour, 1 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt whisked tog x’s 3 for this recipe.. The taste/flavor of this bread was/is just lovely. I don’t have a 9×5 loaf pan so I made it in 3 smaller loaf pans and adjusted temp down to 350° and baked for 30 mins.
I, my husband, and neighbor could not stop eating it, with just a smear of butter and/or a small dollop of sweet orange marmalade. This is one of the quickest, most delicious sweet breads I have ever had the good fortune of making. None of us had ever had Beer Bread before…..didn’t know what we were missing.
I used a bottle of Guinness Draught Stout brewed in Dublin, Ireland by St James Gate. This was the best use of time and ingredients EVER! BTW, I’m 75 years old and I’ve made countless loaves of bread, sweet and not-sweet over the years and I bake artisan bread for sandwiches and toast at least twice a week. This Beer Bread will be a constant in our kitchen from now on. Thank you for introducing us to this delightful, new, taste sensation! Just goes to show…..you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!
Oh good to read that as. Am going to give it a go this weekend! And I am very much a novice when it comes to bread. Cakes yes, bread usually left to my husband
