First, rinse the zucchini with cold water, then slice off the top and bottom ends, trimming about 1/2 inch from each.
Next, using a sharp knife, slice the zucchini vertically, as shown in the picture above, into 1/2-inch thick pieces. It's important to keep the thickness consistent so that every fry bakes perfectly.
If cut too thick, they won’t bake properly. If cut too thin, they’ll turn slimy and too soft, making the zucchini fries less enjoyable.
Continue slicing the zucchini vertically. Depending on its size, you should end up with about 4-6 pieces.
Arrange the zucchini neatly and slice them into strips, about 3 inches long, just like fries. Be consistent with the length to ensure they bake and cook evenly.
