Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients for DIY cheese crackers recipe.
  • Sharp cheddar cheese slices – Pick sharp cheddar cheese instead of mild cheddar cheese when making this snack so that you will get the most flavorful and rich taste once baked.
  • Garlic salt

The cheese crackers go well with garlic salt, which provides a unique flavor to the snack and won’t be too salty. You may also try a variety of spices, such as Italian seasoning and dried herbs.

How To Make DIY Cheese Crackers

To make these cheese crackers, you’ll need just two ingredients: cheddar cheese and garlic salt.

Simply preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and cut each slice of cheddar cheese into four equal squares. Arrange the squares on a baking pan lined with parchment paper, ensuring that each slice has enough space between it and the others. Sprinkle garlic salt on top of each square, and then bake for 15 minutes.

Once your cheese crackers are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool down for about 5 minutes. As they cool down, they’ll become hard and crunchy, making them the perfect snack to munch on throughout the day.

Baking Tips

For the best result, please follow my tips below.

  • Cut the cheese slices into small, equal squares and place them on the baking pan in a single layer, with 2 inches of space between each square to allow them to expand while baking.
  • Line the baking pan with parchment paper to prevent the cheese crackers from sticking to the pan.
  • Bake the cheese crackers in a preheated oven at 350°F for 15 minutes. Do not increase the temperature or over bake the cheese crackers, or they will become burnt and taste bitter.

    1. Rasa Malaysia says:

Hi Arleen. Kraft slices are processed cheese products with a different moisture level, and will not yield the same results.
