Honey Wings Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients for honey wings.
  • Chicken wings – super versatile and soak up flavors really well, making them great for any marinade. I used wingette, but you can use drumette or a combination of both.
  • Honey – gives the wings a sweet, sticky glaze that caramelizes while cooking.
  • Ginger juice – adds a fresh, zesty kick and helps tenderize the chicken wings.
  • Turmeric – adds a warm, earthy flavor and gives the wings a vibrant yellow color.
  • Chili powder – gives the wings a subtle kick and boosts the flavor with just the right hint of spice.
  • Soy sauce – gives the wings a savory, umami boost.

How To Make Honey Wings

Marinate the chicken with the ginger juice and seasoning in a bowl.

Step 1: Pound the ginger in a mortar and pestle to extract the juice. Marinate the chicken wings with the ginger juice and all the seasonings. Mix well and marinate for 1-2 hours.

Grill the marinated chicken wings until golden brown.

Step 2: Grill the chicken wings or bake them in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked and golden brown.

Serve the spicy and sweet honey wings on a plate.

Step 3: Serve immediately with lemon wedges (optional).

Helpful Tips For Home Cooks

  • Make sure your oven or grill is nice and hot at 375°F (190°C) before you start cooking. This helps your wings cook evenly.
  • Give the chicken wings a quick pat with paper towels before marinating. This helps the marinade stick better and results in a tastier glaze.
  • If you’re baking, put the wings on a wire rack over a baking sheet. This lets the heat circulate all around.
  • Whether you’re grilling or baking, don’t crowd the wings. Give them some space so they cook evenly and get that perfect golden brown.
