NO-BAKE Chocolate Cake – Moist, soft, and THE MOST decadent chocolate cake recipe EVER, perfect for V Day!!!
Not many people can resist a good piece of rich chocolate cake, and I am no exception.
Today, I am sharing with you my friend CP Choong’s recipe, a no bake chocolate cake recipe. (You can check out the regular baked chocolate cake recipe here.)
Yes, you don’t have to bake the chocolate cake…in this instance, the chocolate cake is steamed, yet it retains the buttery richness, plus it’s also moist and decadent.
While oven is in almost every household here in the United States, back in Asia, not every home comes with an oven.
I remember when I was growing up, my late mother would only bake once in a blue moon, probably once a year, before Chinese New Year.
We had a very old-fashioned oven, a big around device that is stainless steel, with a big round cover.
It did its job well and we would bake Chinese peanut cookies in it.
For the rest of the year, we kept the oven in the storage until the next year before Chinese New Year again.
Anyway I disgress.
I meant to say that this no bake chocolate cake is great if you have no oven.
Everyone loves chocolate cake and you can still enjoy it without investing in an expensive oven.
You just have to steam it in a steamer for 45 minutes and you have a moist chocolate cake.
It’s really delicious and people might not even know that it wasn’t baked.
This no bake chocolate cake also comes with a chocolate fudge topping, which makes the chocolate cake even more irresistible.
To jazz it up even more, add some berries such as blueberries and strawberries and you have an excellent looking chocolate cake to impress everyone.
Look at these pictures, can you say no?
Happy steaming your cake and enjoy!

It’s so good, very moist and chocolatey. Too lazy to make the topping so I drizzled Hershey Choc Fudge instead. And it being no-bake means less oily washing..I used brown sugar and no rum.
Awesome I love this no bake chocolate recipe, too.

Hi.. how can I replace egg??
I found a treasure trove of recipes here! Thank you so much Bee… I tried your No bake chocolate cake and it turns out perfect!… I gave some to friends at work… One friend brought back and gave to her husband and son… now asking for your recipe!…
Thanks Ramlah.
Hima . You can replace eggs with a gel made from 1 part white chia seeds and 9 parts water. Whisk to blend. Stand for 15 minutes and whisk again. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 2 weeks. Use the gel in place of eggs, oil and butter in many baking recipes.
I found your recipe and just made half of the portion, reduced sugar and cocoa powder too . I love this recipe so easy no need mixer just stir well will do super easy . Am wondering is it possible to replace the flour to brown rice flour ? I will try . Thanks for your recipe . Easy make sure success steam cake .
Hi Alice I am not sure you will have to try it and let me know.
Hi. Do I need to put water in the steamer and cover the cake with foil…or just dry steam. Please explain
No need to cover.
I tried this today and though it was super easy and quick, the cake was denser at the base and it didn’t rise at all. My cake was inly about 1 1/2 inches high. Taste is good though but because it didn’t rise, I skipped the fudge icing.
Did you steam it?
Yesh did. It tastes really good like fudge but it didn’t rise. Should I try it with cake flour? I’m using Rogers white.
Not familiar with that flour.
SO you suck at baking, practice makes perfect Jenny!?❤️?
Hello ! I did try this and it turned out fairly good. I am doing it again tomorrow but I like to know if the butter should be salted or unsalted and when will the rhum if I like to put some be added? TIA and more power !
Unsalted.
Hi. I’m hoping you could help me out with this. What’s the difference between soda bicarbonate, baking soda and baking powder? Tia
I think the first two are the same. Baking powder has baking soda plus other stuff: http://www.simplyrecipes.com/the_difference_between_baking_soda_and_baking_powder/
Tq for the reply. Can I use self raising flour which has sodium bicarbonate in it for this recipe? If yes how much baking powder and baking soda need to use?
Hi, may I know if I could use the same recipe and make it into cupcakes instead?
How long would I need to steam?
I think so I have no idea, just insert cake tester to test it.
