Sweet Garlic Chicken
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs (750g) bone-in skin-on chicken thighs
- salt
- ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
Sauce:
- 3/4 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 3 dashes cayenne pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon salt , or to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the chicken thighs with water and pat dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and ground black pepper. In a small bowl, mix all the ingredients for the sauce and stir well. Set aside.
- Heat a skillet and pan-fry the chicken thighs until the skin turns golden brown and the bottom is crispy. Discard the excess oil from the skillet and set the chicken thighs aside.
- Add the olive oil to the skillet over medium heat. Sauté the garlic until softened and lightly browned. Add the chicken thighs and sauce. Cover the skillet with a lid, reduce the heat to a simmer, and cook for about 3 minutes, or until the sauce reduces and turns brown.
- Turn the chicken a couple of times to coat it with the sauce. Top with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

I made this a few nights ago and followed your directions completely. The only problem I had was it was asking too long for the sauce to reduce so I turned up the heat which did the trick. I gotta tell you we (Mrs. Jake and I) were both totally impressed. Nice sweet garlicky heat

The recipe states to add the olive oil after chicken is cooked (Step 3) Do you need to put oil in pan to fry chicken (Step 2).
Also is the cayenne pepper powder or liquid because it calls for a dash. I am a novice. Looks delicious

I would so like to try this! The drawback for me is chicken thighs. I really don’t like the dark meat of ANY poultry. Can I adapt this to breasts? No, it’s 3 minutes on simmer to reduce and thicken the sweet garlic sauce.
How long to cook the chicken? 10 min can’t be long enough
Cook until they are cooked through, my chicken thighs were small.
