One of my favorite things to grill during summer is oysters—big, fat, juicy and succulent oysters on the half shell. They are one of the easiest things to make, and the end results are so delicious that I can just eat so many of them.
Ahh, the fun of summer and the endless possibilities of grilling everything edible under the sun.
I created this grilled osyters recipe after I tried out a similar recipe at a seafood buffet recently. You need a few simple ingredients to bring out the natural briny good taste of the oysters: finely chopped garlic, parsley leaves, salt, paprika, and butter.
It’s that simple. If you don’t have an outdoor grill, you can baked them in the oven and the results are equally tantalizing. Before serving, you may add a squirt of lemon juice or lime juice and enjoy!
With the Memorial weekend coming up, load up on oysters and grill them. Trust me, you will love these amazing grilled oysters.

- 6 big shell-on oysters
- 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley leaves
- paprika to taste
- 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
- lemon wedges, (optional)
Shuck the oysters and set aside.
Top the oysters with the chopped garlic, parsley leaves, and season with paprika (to taste). Add some melted butter in each oyster.
Grill on outdoor grill for about 5-8 minutes or until they are cooked. Serve immediately. You can add a squirt of lemon juice before eating.
The secret trick about shucking oysters is to have the "flatter" side of the oyster facing you, then start at the hinge of the oyster (the pointed end of the oyster). Insert an oyster knife or a small knife at the hinge, twist the knife a few times and pop the shell open. You can check out this video by Ming Tsai on how to shuck oysters.
If you bake these oysters, preheat your oven to 375F and bake for 15-20 minutes.
