The Best Dry Rub Recipe

I have the best recipe, which I learned from my good friend Harry Soo at Slap Yo’ Daddy BBQ.

If you are a BBQ fan, you would know Harry as he is one of the top BBQ pit masters in the United States, having won numerous competitions across the country.

He has also appeared on various TV programs and teaches BBQ courses on the weekends.

Harry came from the same hometown as me, which is Penang, Malaysia. I was lucky to have joined Harry’s BBQ class a few years ago.

What I am sharing with you is THE BEST dry rub recipe you will find online, straight from a top BBQ guru.

Even though a little too salty for us, the flavor is excellent. We tend to tread lightly with salt ah should have thought of that sooner. I just made another batch without salt and added it to the remainder in my mason jar. I even wrote the recipe on the lid and where I got it with my changes in parentheses. Thank you. It will get used a lot this summer. I have sworn off using my stove unless itโ€™s lightening outside.

Does anybody else feel that the amount of salt is an overkill?, I followed the ingredients and placed in a bag with my tray full of drumsticks and cooked for 40mins and the meat was VERY salty, …over wise good but I know I will put MUCH less salt next time

    1. Rasa Malaysia says:

It shouldn’t be salty, if it’s salty, it means the measurement might be off.

      1. Ada says:

Then why is the sodium content so high? A week’s worth of sodium in a single serving?

        1. Valerie says:

I think the nutrition facts are for the jar’s worth of dry rub. Not for the actual 1 or 2 tablespoons of rub you’d use for a recipe..

Hi there, I’ll be making this recipe tonight to use on drumsticks, I probably won’t find the same steak seasoning for the ingredients as I live in canada. Will any steak seasoning work? And does the steak seasoning contain any salt? Thanks so much!

            1. Rasa Malaysia says:

Yes, you can use any. It contains salt.
