Recently I bought a box of frozen Texas Toast from Target when I was shopping.
I got them to go with the garlic noodles that little G absolutely loves.
Right out of the oven, G immediately devoured them.
In no time, before I could even serve him the garlic noodles (as I was still making the noodles), he finished a few big pieces of the Texas toast and almost half of the serving from the box.
Needless to say, he didn’t finish his noodles as he was already full.
The next day, he came home from school and asked for the garlic Texas toast again.
I decided to make it the next day.
I bought a loaf of French bread from my neighborhood supermarket.
I prepared the garlic parsley butter, adapted from Bobby Flay’s recipe.
Now, the secret to making a killer version of garlic Texas toast lies in this butter.
Skip garlic powder and go for fresh garlic.
You want to use pureed garlic so your Texas toast will be infused with the amazing flavor and aroma of the garlic.
Trust me, once you try this garlic-parsley mixture, you will never go back to garlic powder.
For the cheese topping, I chose Trader Joe’s three-cheese blend of mozzarella, cheddar and Monterey Jack.
You can’t go wrong with these three cheeses on a buttery and garlicky Texas toast.
And guess what, we finished all these Texas Toast just as soon as they were out of the oven.
Will I ever buy the frozen boxes again?
