Hawaiian Kalua Pork - tender and juicy pressure cooker Hawaiian Kalua pork recipe. 10 mins active time and dinner is done!
My family friend V recently bought an Instant Pot and she has been raving to me about the ease of use and that everything gets cooked in a very short time. More importantly, the foods actually taste very good.
I bought myself an Instant Pot, and I love it, especially on those busy weeknights when I have to make dinner for the entire family!
This Hawaiian Kalua Pork is the first recipe I attempted with the pressure cooker and it was fast, delicious and everyone loved it, including picky eater little G.
He enjoyed the Kalua pork so much that he made sure I packed it for his school lunch, now this doesn’t happen that often.
I love the simplicity of the recipe as it calls for very few ingredients. I did jazz up the original recipe a bit to make it more flavorful.
The pork is tender, juicy, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavors and I had only one pot to clean after dinner.
I am excited to use my Instant Pot again, and I would love to share more pressure cooker recipes with you all.
Please leave me a comment and tell me that if you have an Instant Pot and if you wish to see more recipes from me.

- 2 tablespoons Wright’s Hickory Liquid Smoke
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce

Yes, please post more delicious pressure pot recipes. I bought one and it is very under-used. Love your recipes, Bee! Thank you!
Will do!
I have a pressure cooker that doesn’t vent and love it. I pre-cooked spare ribs and then grill or broil them. So good and fast. 25-30 minutes in the pressure cooker then a bit of flame to add that extra bit of flavor.
Please do post more Instant Pot recipes. I too want to get one. Waiting for a sale.
Will pork shoulder work for this recipe? Or a loin roast? Not sure what kind of pork roast to buy.
Yes they will work.
The correct spelling is kalua.
Hi Noname, thanks for letting me know, I was confused.
Hi, your spelling is incorrect “Kahlua” is the name of an alcohol product, the correct spelling is “Kalua”. Love your blog and all the delicious recipes you post, just wanted to be helpful. Aloha!
Thanks for letting me know will change.
Bought one couple of months ago, it’s awesome, cooked in no time and like you said only one pot to clean..
I love cooking in my Instant Pot…..Looking forward to seeing more Instant Pot recipes from you!
It’s Kalua pork. Not Kahlua…
Really? And that matters why?
Because ‘Kahlua’ is a type of coffee liquor, ‘kalua’ is a Hawaiian word referring to how the meat is cooked
Also because you donโt want to be disrespectful to the Hawaiian culture, Shannon.
I just received an electric pressure cooker as a gift and am excited to try this recipe! I would love to see more recipes using this type of cooking appliance.
Awesome Carla, I will share more.
I do not have all the โbells& whistles โ on my Instant Pot. Can I brown on top of the stove & then put it back in the pot & continue?
