Please refer to the recipe card below for detailed step-by-step method on how to make pork chops in a pressure cooker.

Instant Pot Pork Chops
Tender, fall-off-the-bone pork chops in Instant Pot with creamy garlic Parmesan sauce. This is one of the best Instant Pot pork chop recipes, best served with rice or spaghetti.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs. bone-in pork chops, at least 1-inch thick
- salt
- ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic peeled
- 2/3 cup chicken broth
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
- 1/3 cup shredded Parmesan cheese plus more for garnishing
- 1 tablespoon chopped Italian parsley leaves
Directions
-
1Season the pork chops with salt and ground black pepper.
-
2
Turn on the Saute mode on your Instant Pot. As soon as the pot is fully heated (to make sure the pork chops don't stick to the pot), add the olive oil.
-
3
Pan sear the pork chops until both sides turn slightly brown. (You may pan-fry the pork chops on a regular skillet or non-stick skillet.)
-
4Add the garlic and chicken broth to the Instant Pot. Sprinkle the cayenne pepper on the pork chops. Cover the pot and select Manual and set to High pressure for 8 minutes.
-
5
When it beeps, turn to Quick Release. When the valve drops, remove the cover carefully, add the heavy whipping cream, salt, shredded Parmesan cheese, stir to mix well. Turn to Saute mode to reduce the sauce to a thicker consistency, for about 2-3 minutes.
-
6
Top with parsley, shredded Parmesan cheese and serve immediately.

I loved this recipe!! I want to try and make it using chicken next time instead of pork chops. If I use chicken breasts… how long should I pressure cook?
Rasa Malaysia
Same time.

I’m out of cream. Could I sub sour cream or would that change the taste too much?
Rasa Malaysia
I think you can try sour cream but the sauce might taste sour?
Kayla
If I slow cook this recipe in my instant pot on slow cook mode do I cook on low med or high for 4 hours?
Rasa Malaysia
Hi Kayla, I think so, I have never used Instant Pot Slow Cook mode, so I am not 100% sure.

I made this tonight and it was amazing. I accidentally added too much chicken broth so I had to make a small slurry to thicken it. Because my pork chops were so massive, I took them out while I thickened the sauce then added them back in for 5 min while it allrested and the sauce tightened up. I also took the garlic out and minced it. I steamed taters tossed in some olive oil, salt and pepper on top of the pork chops and my fily put some of the sauce on them (I’m keto). This is definitely going in the rotation! Great recipe!!

hi. my chops are not 1 inch thick. More like 1/2 inch thick. Is there modifications I could do to use this recipe. Thank you.
Rasa Malaysia
This is fine, just cut down pressure cooking by 2 minutes.

Can you use boneless chops?
Rasa Malaysia
Yes you can!
MM
I only have regular 2% milk right now. Do you think I could use that in place of the heavy cream? Thanks!
Rasa Malaysia
Hi MM, that should work. Just won’t be as creamy.
Ashley
Do you take the pork chops out before adding in the cream and Parmesan or just dump it on top of everything?
Rasa Malaysia
Just add everything on top is fine. You can flip the pork chops over if you like before adding.

So this maybe a strange question, but I stuck at home like everybody else and I only have beef broth at home. Would that work or would it destroy this recipe?
Rasa Malaysia
Beef broth is fine.
Delia
Family loved this dish served over noodles, even my picky son! The chops were so tender. The gravy was so tasty and very reminiscent of alfredo. Definitely a keeper!
