This chicken noodles recipe was inspired by a recipe book that I flipped through at my grocery store. The timing couldn’t be better as I had some fresh egg noodles in the fridge, so I made this mouthwatering chicken noodles for lunch yesterday.

The best part of this chicken noodles was the chicken. I marinated the chicken with some soy sauce, oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine, sesame oil, white pepper, and a secret ingredient that made all the difference: Worcestershire sauce. I then pan-fried the chicken, and topped the simple fried egg noodles with the chicken, including the delicious juice from the chicken. Click the image above to view the deliciousness!

This chicken noodle recipe is so easy to make, with ingredients that you can get at regular grocery stores. If you can’t find fresh egg noodles (also labeled as chow mein or steamed chow mein in the United States), you can always use dried egg noodles.

  1. The chicken looks so flavorful. I don’t think I would have patience for noodles or anything else to go with it! Just the chicken will do!

Looks good!..and by the way, I usually refer to your website for any kind of malaysian recipes. I was just wondering if you ever been to east coast of Malaysia(Sabah and Sarawak)? If there any chance one day you will post some of sarawakian/sabahan food too? I am from sarawak, and I was looking for sarawak laksa, mee kolok, koay teow tomatoe recipes…etc,. I hope you will eventually post it here!

  5. Just comforting looking at that bowl of noodles. Simple recipe yet exudes oodles of flavor and comfort. My 9 year old will love this recipe. I will have to omit Shaoxing wine since I can never find it in my part of the world in India. What would be a good substitute for it, Bee?

Btw, I love love your blog. :)

  6. I threw this together really quickly one night and it was brilliant. I had to improvise with the sauces though because I didn’t have the wine or the oyster sauce. Mind if I ask you what the wine is like taste-wise? Anyway it was lovely, thank you so much!

I’ll be trying your other recipes in future! (Love this website)

    Awesome, who needs take out!
Added a little Sriracha to the marinade. Stir fried some al dente ramen with a little soy sauce and toasted sesame oil.

I just made this for dinner and I found another winner!! The only thing I changed was to add a bit of rice wine and a few drops of sesame oil to the sauce. I love how the chicken gets caramelized and has a nice smokey flavor. I also had dried chow mein noodles so that’s what I used. This is the 2nd recipe I have tried on this site and you have 2 new fans in this household!

I just made this recipe for the first time–so easy to prepare and it only took me 20 minutes to get it to the table (10 minutes to chop chicken and veggies and cook/drain noodles). Delicious, so tasty. The sauce on these noodles would be sheer heaven on scallopsor shrimp; which I will do next time. The charred chicken really pleased my husband’s taste buds. A++++

  11. I have made these noodles twice and they are quite easy and quick to prepare and simply scrumptious. Replaced egg noodles with yellow noodles, and chicken thighs with chicken breast. The finished dish looks so pretty – perfect for future pot lucks. Eaten with chopped cilipadi in light soy sauce (a must-have condiment for noodle dishes in my household). Thank you so much for sharing! DZ from Malaysia
