Garlic noodles is my favorite noodles all these years. There is nothing not to love about Asian noodles tossed with lots of garlic, butter, Parmesan cheese, with savory Asian sauces. It’s one of the most requested dishes on my dinner table!
Other Recipes You Might Like
I learned to make Garlic Noodles after I tried it out at the famous Vietnamese Thanh Long restaurant in San Francisco and Crustacean in Beverly Hills.
Both are sister restaurants and their main draws are roasted crab and garlic noodles, which are utterly delicious. I was instantly hooked and developed this easy homemade garlic noodles recipe.
For the best result, use Asian noodles such as yellow noodles from Asian stores. But pasta such as spaghetti or linguine works just fine. You can eat the garlic noodles plain or serve it with roasted crab (try my recipe!).
You can also serve the noodles with garlic shrimp. Bon appetit!

Garlic Noodles (The Best!)
Ingredients
- 20 oz. yellow noodles or spaghetti
- 1 tablespoon bottled grated Parmesan cheese
- water (for boiling the noodles)
Garlic Sauce:
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic or more to taste
- 1 tablespoon Maggie seasoning sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Instructions
- Rinse the yellow noodles with running water to discard the oil from the noodles. Drain and set aside.
- Heat up a pot of water until boiling. Add the noodles into the boiling water and cook the noodles until al dente (you want it to still have a good chewy bite), or for a few minutes. You can taste the texture of the noodles while cooking. Do not overcook as the noodles will turn soggy. Transfer the noodles out and drain dry.
- Prepare the Garlic Sauce using a saute pan on medium to low heat. Add the butter into the pan and when it melts, add the garlic and saute until aromatic but not browned. Add all the seasonings into the pan, stir to combine well. Transfer the garlic sauce into a small bowl.
- To serve, just toss all the noodles with the garlic sauce. Add the Parmesan cheese, toss to combine well. Serve immediately.

This was a hit with my family, but 1 tablespoon of sugar was way too sweet. I will use less next time.
Might I ask – -what on earth are “yellow noodles?” Where does one find them? Maybe a link to a vendor instead of a puzzling picture would be more help. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your recipes, site and newsletters. Thank you.
Yellow noodles are available at Asian stores. You can use spaghetti.
The picture of the noodles are in the recipe card.
Maggi Sauce substitution?
You can skip and use more oyster sauce.
Can you give the precise amonunt of oyster sauce to use if you don’t have maggi sauce
Just to taste.
I made it tonight as a dish with my seafood boil. It came out so delicious!!! Instead of Maggie seasoning sauce because I didn’t have any, I substituted it for Bragg Liquid Aminos and I didn’t add sugar because I never cook with sugar and omg this simple dish was to die for. I use egg noodles as well. Thank you for the recipe! We enjoyed the garlic noodles so much.

Yum! I had garlic noodles out of Westminster not too long ago, and I had NEVER had them before. I was desperate to find a recipe so I decided to check out your recipes, and voila, I found one! I was a little hesitant with the sauce after I had mixed it up, I thought.. hm.. hoisin, maggi, fish sauce? sounds a little strong, and then CHEESE?! But I mixed away and it was absolutely delicious. I even added a little more parmesan cheese for a little bit more saltiness. Can’t wait to make this again. Thank you!

My almost 12 year old boy declared this was the best thing I’ve ever cooked. I did end up using 2 T of the sugar, water and oyster/fish/soy sauces rather than the suggested 1 T, and definitely 5 cloves if garlic, no less, for 1 lb of noodles. The flavor was on point. Thank you!
Awesome, adjust the flavor according to your taste!! Some days I like it lighter, some days I like it heavier. Thanks for trying my recipe and please check out more recipes on my site, they are ALL GOOD: https://rasamalaysia.com/recipe-index-gallery/
These noodles are to die for! I made them recently and there were no leftovers. Quick and easy to make! Soooooo goooood!
