Garlic noodles is my favorite noodles all these years. There is nothing not to love about Asian noodles tossed with lots of garlic, butter, Parmesan cheese, with savory Asian sauces. It’s one of the most requested dishes on my dinner table!
Other Recipes You Might Like
I learned to make Garlic Noodles after I tried it out at the famous Vietnamese Thanh Long restaurant in San Francisco and Crustacean in Beverly Hills.
Both are sister restaurants and their main draws are roasted crab and garlic noodles, which are utterly delicious. I was instantly hooked and developed this easy homemade garlic noodles recipe.
For the best result, use Asian noodles such as yellow noodles from Asian stores. But pasta such as spaghetti or linguine works just fine. You can eat the garlic noodles plain or serve it with roasted crab (try my recipe!).
You can also serve the noodles with garlic shrimp. Bon appetit!

Garlic Noodles (The Best!)
Ingredients
- 20 oz. yellow noodles or spaghetti
- 1 tablespoon bottled grated Parmesan cheese
- water (for boiling the noodles)
Garlic Sauce:
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons minced garlic or more to taste
- 1 tablespoon Maggie seasoning sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
Instructions
- Rinse the yellow noodles with running water to discard the oil from the noodles. Drain and set aside.
- Heat up a pot of water until boiling. Add the noodles into the boiling water and cook the noodles until al dente (you want it to still have a good chewy bite), or for a few minutes. You can taste the texture of the noodles while cooking. Do not overcook as the noodles will turn soggy. Transfer the noodles out and drain dry.
- Prepare the Garlic Sauce using a saute pan on medium to low heat. Add the butter into the pan and when it melts, add the garlic and saute until aromatic but not browned. Add all the seasonings into the pan, stir to combine well. Transfer the garlic sauce into a small bowl.
- To serve, just toss all the noodles with the garlic sauce. Add the Parmesan cheese, toss to combine well. Serve immediately.

These garlic noodles are off the chain! They can compete any day with garlic noodles at a restaurant very famous in San Francisco. Very easy to make as well and the ingredients are available at your local grocery store.
Can I use wheat noodles ?
You can try!
I’ve made this recipe a bunch of times. It’s great. I make the sauce portion in bulk so I can have it in a pinch.
Recently used this to flavor some fried rice I was making and it was AMAZING.
Good idea!
Made these tonight! Delicious. And so easy to throw together.
Awesome!
Which brand of yellow noodles do you recommend? There are so many different brands and size of yellow noodles.
Doesn’t really matter.
Love Garlic Noodles
Other than Spaghetti or yellow noodle – can I use any Chinese noodle for this dish- some times I get cravings for noodles lol and glad I’ve came across this recipe – I also love garlic can it be doubled?
And if possible adding sesame seed oil to the flavour instead of oyster sauce (which I also love)
Thanks and have a great day..
Yes.
I am new to Asia/Chinese cooking and would like to try this recipe, but I would like to know what kind of “yellow noodles” should I use. Is there a brand(s) that you think would work in this recipe. Thank you.
No brand, just Chinese/Taiwanese fresh yellow noodles coated in oil. If no, just use cooked spaghetti.
Hi! Which yellow noodle specifically? Is it the same egg noodle you would use for Mi Hoanh Thanh?
Not egg noodles, oily yellow noodles. The picture is in the recipe card.
Your recipe for garlic noodles truly is “the best”. This is by far better than all of the other recipes for garlic noodles in existence! I make this recipe often and add a little chopped chicken to the sauce just before adding the noodles and dang, it’s so good! Bee, you are obviously an amazing chef! Thank you for all of your amazing recipes! I cannot wait to try every one of them!
Hi Michele, you won’t find better recipes elsewhere! :)
This recipe was so delicious and easy to make. I have had garlic noodles in a few restaurants in the past, and this was even better. I didn’t have Maggi sauce so added one teaspoon of XO sauce in its place to add to the flavor, which it did. I used 8 large and medium cloves of garlic and the XO sauce, otherwise I followed the recipe.
Awesome!!!
What is Maggie sauce and where to buy
Asian stores.
Literally had a last minute craving and was supposed to make ramen but thought of how much I miss getting garlic noodles and saw that you referred to Thanh long no less! I always used to go to the SF location! This is so perfect and I just eyeballed it for one serving. Taste is on point!! Thanks for sharing! :)
Thanks Monica.
