Baked Mozzarella Cheese Sticks - crispy cheese sticks coated with Japanese panko and baked to golden perfection. Easy peasy recipe that everyone loves!
If you are are like me, a mom of a growing toddler, your fridge is most likely loaded with various kinds of cheese sticks or string cheese.
Little G is a HUGE fan of cheese, all kinds of food with cheese, especially if they are in the form of cheese, for example: cheese breadsticks. I never run out of cheese in my fridge, be it parmesan, cheddar, mozzarella, cheese sticks, etc.
One of the easiest things that I packed for his afternoon snack at school is these amazing baked mozzarella cheese sticks.
Generally coated with beaten egg, Japanese panko (or bread crumbs) and baked to golden perfection, these cheese sticks are amazing and little G can’t get enough of them.
More importantly, they are so easy to make with very easy-to-get ingredients. Just dip the cheese sticks into the beaten egg, roll the cheese sticks generously with Japanese panko or bread crumbs, bake them in the oven and they are done.
They can be eaten as is or you may get some bottled marinara sauce as a dipping sauce. I usually do without the sauce as they are just as delicious as is. Make a big batch as both grown-ups and kids are going to gobble them up in no time!

Hi Bee,

What oven temp?
HI. I thought these sounded soo yummy…but my crumbs wouldn’t stick after dipping cheese in beaten egg. Any suggestions? ?
They should, just keep rolling and pressing them to the cheese sticks.
No doubt this recipe is vert good but more cheese can harmful for us so, we should try these type of things carefully. They look delicious and I know when I eat them in they are always one of my favorite things. Thanks
Totally agree with @elizabeth. Thanks for sharing.
This was very good. I ended up putting the chicken on a cookie sheet with low sides, uncovered as I was out of foil, and baked for about 35-40 minutes total. Came out great, but I totally spaced the sauce. Maybe next time Iโll remember it.
I actually didn’t know they were this easy to make. Figured the coating would take a lot of prep. :) Must try these. They look delicious and I know when I eat them in restaurants they are always one of my favorite things. Thanks :)
So delicious!! Made them this Sunday and everyone loved it.
Next time I’ll try to double coat them in eggs and bread crumbs for an extra crunch :)
Thanks, Bee

You can also freeze the cheese sticks first before dipping in egg wash and breadcrumbs and baking.
